About the author...




Hello! My name is Jonathan Ferrara and I am the author of the Blackwell Family Secret. I became a writer because of my grandma-nonny. It all started when I was 14years old. I was driving with my mom and grandma sometime around midnight. We stopped for gas at a creepy old town. I was scared and came up with a story about what I thought happens in that town. My grandma laughed and said I have such an amazing imagination and should write. I had never thought about writing until that moment. So I picked up a pencil and started going at it and couldn’t stop. I fell in love with it and can’t see myself doing anything but writing. I wrote my first book for ten years. Its my baby and taught me so much. However, after ten years I needed something fresh. I needed new characters, new twists, a fresh new story. I needed something that was going to expand my imagination into new realms. I was about to go back to school and had four months to write. I knew I wouldn’t have time to work full time, go to school full time and give my all to writing. So fours months was all I was going to allow myself. Besides my short timeline, I was fighting a horrible depression. I was facing a dark time in my life: hardships at work, losing my dog “Happy” who I had for fourteen years of my life, having to move apartments and so much more. I needed an outlet and I turned my depression into creativity. I remembered a story I was holding onto for years, The Blackwell Family Secret. I originally came up with the story when I was 19years old. I was driving home from confirmation class, listening to music when the story flashed in my head like a movie trailer with the words singing in my head, “the seven deadly sins.” I knew I wasn’t ready for that story and locked it away in the corner of my mind. However, as I faced depression I knew that The Blackwell Family Secret was the only book that could be dark enough to store my depression. I started writing and couldn’t stop. I watched this story flourish into something I never thought possible. It was amazing. Now that the story is finished I am currently searching for an agent to represent The Blackwell Family Secret. Fingers crossed! Thank you all for supporting me and the book. I am so excited to see what the future has in store for the Blackwell Family Secret.
